The Board of Directors for Family Promise of Orange County (FPOC) and Executive Director Bryan Lake announce Jacek Starownik as the organization’s new Director of Programs.

Jacek comes to FPOC with over 10 years of experience in program development management, leadership, budgeting, managing federal grants, and working directly and indirectly with homeless and formerly homeless individuals and families as well as individuals with criminal backgrounds.

Jacek has had quite a career that spans from Ohio to Florida and now brings him to California. In Columbus, OH, he worked as a Training and Staff Development Coordinator, where he conducted several training workshops including Trauma Informed Care. He also has experience in developing and managing Mentor Programs that supported individuals with criminal backgrounds in transition from correctional facilities back to society.

When in Miami, FL, Jacek worked as a Program Director where he provided wraparound services to formerly homeless individuals and families. He also created and led an agency-wide Systems Improvement Committee at his former organization called Carrfour Supportive Housing. Rounding out his time in Florida, Jacek served on the Board of Directors for the state-wide Florida Coalition to End Homelessness and served as a field instructor for master level social work students from Florida International University.

FPOC’s mission aims to create a pathway of support for families experiencing housing instability and insecurity, which relates closely with Jacek’s experience.

When asked about his goals for FPOC, Jacek says he is looking forward to the future: “Once someone told me, ‘I’m not different than you, I’m different like you’ (unknown) which stuck in my head forever and therefore, in my current role, as a Director of Programs, not only do I hope to provide services to families in need of housing, but I hope to provide services based on trust, respect, dedication and most importantly, inclusion where everyone feels appreciated, seen and heard. With the current team of dedicated and passionate colleagues, I’m hoping to work towards creating an ever-evolving hub of

resources for those in need of support.”
